SPORT: Can Keshi Succeed As Eagles’ Coach?

Former Super Eagles’ captain, Stephen Keshi was on Wednesday named as replacement for sacked Samson Siasia as the new Super Eagles’ coach. Bamidele Olowosagba and Emmanuel Osodi asked Nigerians about the capability of the new coach to handle the senior national team
Agboola Pinheiro, Basketball Coach: The success of Stephen Keshi as the head coach of the Super Eagles will depend on his ability to start from the scratch. This is because the whole set up in the national team needs reformation. So, for any coach to make any head way, he will need to bring new players into the team.
Ayo Animashaun, Football Analyst: I think the sacking of former coach, Samson Siasia, is not the solution to the problem affecting our national team. But since the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has decided to appoint another ex-player to handle the team, I think with the support of all the stakeholder and the football governing body, he will succeed. He would have to learn from the mistakes of his predecessor for him to perform better.
Victor Onasanya, Football Enthuisiast: There is no doubt Keshi will succeed with the Super Eagles. This is because he has the experience of handling senior national teams in Africa, having coached Mali and Togo. Siasia does not have this experience. I see Keshi as a coach that can handle big players unlike Siasia, who had issues with Osaze Odemwingie and Vincent Enyeama.
Adedeji Ibukun, Student: I cannot say if Keshi will succeed or not but I think they should have given Siasia a second chance. He was not the one that failed to qualify us it was the players that refused to live up to expectations. Now that they have appointed Keshi as the new coach we can only hope and pray he does better than the former coach.

PAST NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF AGN,EJIKE ASIEGBU AND ACTRESS CLARION CHUKWURA AT LOGGERHEADS

Click for Full Image Size According to news from grapevine, the immediate past national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Mr. Ejike Asiegbu is currently on a warpath with screen goddess Clarion Chukwurah.

We gathered that Clarion Chukwurah accused and challenged the former to account for all the insurance monies paid by actors during his tenure as president.

Some parts of the now very controversial sms, which went round Nollywood stakeholders and practitioners read: “With continued avoidable deaths in Nollywood, I ask Ejike Asiegbu, what became of the health insurance scheme we paid for at the beginning of your first tenure as AGN president…”

Apparently, this misguided statements and unfounded allegations did not go down well with Asiegbu’s,hence he threatened to drag the actress before a court of competent jurisdiction to prove her allegation or face the wrath of the law.

In reaction to the false allegations Asiegbu saidI want to educate her that insurance scheme lasts for one year and I believe she does not know this because she was busy collaborating with her cohorts to make sure that nothing worked during my tenure.”

We shall keep you posted on further findings.

DAY 23:Baba Suwe Freed, NDLEA’s Embarrassing Loss

After 23 days in detention in the camp of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, over suspicions that he concealed nacortic substance in his stomach, ace comedian, Babatunde Omidina a.k.a. Baba Suwe was this morning set free on bail by an Ikeja High Court. This brings the 23-day ‘stand-up comedy’ to an end with its attendant huge embarrassment for the NDLEA.

Justice Yetunde Idowu had on Tuesday ordered the NDLEA to release Omidina on bail today if he did not excrete the substance he was suspected of hiding in his stomach.
At the resumed hearing of the matter before the court this morning, NDLEA lawyer, Mr. Femi Oloruntoba told the court that since Tuesday, nothing incriminating has been found in Baba Suwe’s stomach.
Oloruntoba informed the court that NDLEA is not opposed to Omidina’s release on bail but the agency requested that he should report at its office on Wednesday next week for further investigation.
Baba Suwe’s lawyer Bamidele Aturu opposed the NDLEA’s request and noted that since the court bail order of Tuesday the agency has subjected his client to several medical tests without finding any banned narcotic substance in his stomach.
“On Wednesday, my client was taken to an unknown hospital in Victoria Island, Lagos where he was subjected to numerous tests for over 12 hours. He was purged and several tubes were inverted in his nerves and anus but still nothing was found on him,” he told the court.
Baba Suwe, who was looking frail and weak, further confirmed his lawyer’s argument and said, “they took me to a hospital on the Island, when we got there, they put a tube inside my mouth and another one in my anus. They started pumping water into my stomach through the anus. That day, I excreted six times and I have since then been excreting like that on daily basis.”
Asked by the court, if Baba Suwe’s account of event was true and why there was no report of such before the court, NDLEA lawyer, Oloruntoba said he was not aware of such test and that no report was forwarded to him in that regard.
