Red Carpet Photos From The MTV Europe Music Awards 2011

Bruno Mars and band
The 18th annual MTV EMAs which held on Sunday, November 6, 2011 delivered an electrifying show that the city of Belfast will remember for a long long time; from the stunning performances to OMG moments, those who attended the event and others who watched from their TV sets across the world were totally captivated for the few hours it held.
The pink carpet also came alive as music stars, actors and five-star celebs struck  poses for a-thousand-and-one cameras…
The show host  Selena Gomez changed outfits a total of 10 times, but it was her lace Marchesa dress that really stood out. Katy Perry‘s high-heeled saddle shoes also caught our eyes while Jessie J‘ s wild leopard Dolce & Gabbana made her look feisty!
Pop sensation Justin Bieber opted for a less stunning look as he donned on a casual T-shirt/sweater/jean/sneaker ensemble. Pop group LMFAO must have borrowed on their costumes from their ‘Party rock anthem’ video as they defined the word weird.
Singer Bruno Mars might have stolen the night before the show proper started as he stepped out on the red carpet in a dashing Pink/Black one-button suit. He was accompanied by his band who also followed suit (no pun intended).
Check out what your favourite celebrity wore to the EMAs…

Analysis : What Went Wrong With Baba Suwe’s Arrest?

The real life drug drama starring Nollywood comic actor, Baba Suwe, has come to an end. At least for now. But millions of Nigerians are likely to grapple with myriad of unanswered questions for a long time.
Many are asking questions about the reliability of the scanners, the efficiency of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, and the legal framework on drug suspects in the country. Some of the questions asked by Nigerians are as followed: Did the United States-donated scanner at the Lagos airport detect the wrong particles inside the actor’s stomach? Did the two other scanners at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, detect the wrong particles as well? Were the scans doctored to incriminate the comedian? Was it a human error by the anti-narcotics official on duty that night? Was the official already exhausted at 10 p.m. when the actor came for scanning?
Or even, did NDLEA officials compromise? How long does it take to excrete ingested drugs? Can a drug trafficker eat but not excrete the drugs concealed in the stomach? Or was it black magic at play as some have insinuated?
Questions about the agency also abound. Is NDLEA an efficient agency? Does the agency need serious reforms? How long should the agency detain drug suspects before they are taken to court or released? What should be the legal framework be? What does the law say about detained drug suspects? Is the government serious about drug war in Nigeria? Does the agency have the right to take a suspect to the hospital during investigation?
These and other questions are likely to be the preoccupation of drug analysts for many months or years to come.

SPORT: Can Keshi Succeed As Eagles’ Coach?

Former Super Eagles’ captain, Stephen Keshi was on Wednesday named as replacement for sacked Samson Siasia as the new Super Eagles’ coach. Bamidele Olowosagba and Emmanuel Osodi asked Nigerians about the capability of the new coach to handle the senior national team
Agboola Pinheiro, Basketball Coach: The success of Stephen Keshi as the head coach of the Super Eagles will depend on his ability to start from the scratch. This is because the whole set up in the national team needs reformation. So, for any coach to make any head way, he will need to bring new players into the team.
Ayo Animashaun, Football Analyst: I think the sacking of former coach, Samson Siasia, is not the solution to the problem affecting our national team. But since the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has decided to appoint another ex-player to handle the team, I think with the support of all the stakeholder and the football governing body, he will succeed. He would have to learn from the mistakes of his predecessor for him to perform better.
Victor Onasanya, Football Enthuisiast: There is no doubt Keshi will succeed with the Super Eagles. This is because he has the experience of handling senior national teams in Africa, having coached Mali and Togo. Siasia does not have this experience. I see Keshi as a coach that can handle big players unlike Siasia, who had issues with Osaze Odemwingie and Vincent Enyeama.
Adedeji Ibukun, Student: I cannot say if Keshi will succeed or not but I think they should have given Siasia a second chance. He was not the one that failed to qualify us it was the players that refused to live up to expectations. Now that they have appointed Keshi as the new coach we can only hope and pray he does better than the former coach.
