NETPod: ‘Salute Remix’ – Shank Feat Wizkid

When patois-singing act Shank released his ‘Salute’ single back in March 2011, we were all excited. Coupled with the fact that it was announced that the singer’s label Starville had also struck a deal with power record label Storm Records to handle his work, things really looked bright for the act.
It’s months later and after Shank released the Bobby Boulders-directed video to ‘Salute‘ (which has gathered over 30,000 YouTube views), Mr ‘German Sure‘ has decided to release the remix to the club hit calling on the assistance of one of the  hottest pop acts of the moment – Wizkid.
Sadly, the ‘Slaute remix’ doesn’t live up to the hype that the names involved suggest. Terrible mixing and bad composition constitute largely to this. While Shank tries to switch from singing to his ragga delivery, Wizzy blates on the Sarz produced beat. This clearly makes the original song a far better version and leaves us asking why a remix was ventured into in the first place.
