Julius Agwu stranded in the US as Air Nigeria shuts down
By Osagie Alonge
Comedian Julius Agwu is
lamenting about his current situation – he is trapped in the US, no
thanks to Jimoh Ibrahim and the recently defunt Air
Nigeria.
Agwu says he flew with Air Nigeria from
Nigeria to London for
his ‘Crack Ya Ribs‘ show which was held on
August 26, 2012 at the plush Lighthouse Hall, Camberwell but cannot
return to Nigeria now because the airline has abruptly shut down
services.
The owner of the airline, Jimoh
Ibrahim, had on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 announced a
one-year suspension of all activities of the airline and terminated the
employment of all its staff, sparing only 50.
The usually lively comedian took to
micro-blogging website Twitter to complain bitterly;
Is it a Crime to support nigerian
bizness, we flew AirNig to Lond, now we can’t return cos
#JimohIbrahimOFR ordered a closure GEJ #WHY?☹’, @JuliusAgwu1
tweeted.
‘#JimohIbrahimOFR #JimohIbrahimOFR
#JimohIbrahimOFR #JimohIbrahimOFR #JimohIbrahimOFR GEJ#WHY?????’, he
continued
Agwu then asked for the suspension to
commence after his return to the country. ‘#JimohIbrahimOFR…
Postpone ur closure until after our return o!!!! #NaijaBizness‘.
The on-going ‘Crack Ya Ribs’ show is
however going on smoothly; after staging concerts in London and New
York, Agwu and his crew will be going live on stage in Houston on
Saturday, September 8, 2012.

USA, Japan claim final day glory
© Getty Images
THE DAY REPLAYED – USA upset the odds to edge Germany in a battle of the FIFA U-20
Women’s World Cup elite. Germany had comprehensibly overcome their
rivals 3-0 in a Group D encounter just a fortnight ago, and went into
the contest without having conceded a goal during all six matches at Japan 2012. However, a lone strike from Kealia Ohai a minute before half-time
proved to be the decisive moment of the contest as USA claimed their third crown at the
expense of the 2010 champions.
Earlier
in the day Japan proved a popular winner for the
majority of the large and colourful Tokyo crowd. Goals in either half
from Yoko Tanaka and Asuka Nishikawa had the Young Nadeshiko
on their way in what was a typically high-spirited display. However,
2010 finalists Nigeria have shown their resilience more
than once during the tournament, and a Desire Oparanozie strike caused nerves to
jangle for many in the National Stadium. Third place is Japan’s best performance, having never
previously appeared in the semi-finals of the tournament.

Bajan star singer Robyn ‘Rihanna‘ Fenty walked away with the biggest prize of the night at the 2012 edition of the MTV Video Music Awards held on Thursday night, September 6, 2012.

Katy Perry and M.I.A however still walked away with other awards. Katy
bagged the ‘Best Art Direction’ award while M.I.A went home with the

‘HYFR‘. Host Kevin Hart made a shocking move by calling
out both acts (Brown and Drake) and demanded they ‘squash the beef’
between them.
Rihanna, X-Factor alumnus One Direction, Frank Ocean and Pink were some of the top performers of the night.

Kelly Hansome releases new mixtape ‘We Built America’
Singer-rapper-producer Kelly Hansome has been off and on the entertainment grid for the last two years; His much talked about third album ‘Names of Noise Makers‘ is still yet to be released.
But Hansome has surprisingly hit us with new material – a 22 track mixtape – Heavy! The mixtape titled ‘We Built America‘ consists of previously released singles we thought would make his third LP, new covers and original compositions.
‘We Built America‘, scores a
high mark with Kelly Hansome’s arrangement, brilliant remixing of older
tunes and vocal performance. It’s interesting to hear him switch from
singing to rap while he handles production - great talent.
Until he releases his next album, fans will overdose on this brilliant effort.

Terry is that you
By Osagie Alonge
‘Terry is that you?‘ That’s the
question fans threw at popular Nigerian rapper Terry Madaki aka Terry
Tha Rapman some days ago when a controversial photo surfaced online.
The picture shows a couple kissing; the
guy in the photo has a striking resemblance to Terry, but before the
rapper could play down the photos, his fans (the females making up the
majority of course) began asking questions.
‘I was quite surprised when I saw
the photo. It’s crazy, people started demanding questions on my BBM and
Twitter. I spent the whole evening trying to explain something I don’t
even know!‘, the talented rapper tells NET.
‘Terry won’t be caught dead kissing in public, but it was fun to see people react to the photo‘, rapper and Terry’s close friend Pherowshuz tells NET.
Michael Phelps facing possible fine and a loss of medals after posing for Louis Vuitton
Yahoo
news is reporting that Olympic swimming champion, Michael Phelps, could
be in trouble for his recent photo shoot with French luxury fashion
house - Louis Vuitton.
Photos of Phelps for LV were leaked on the Internet late last week, violating the International Olympic Committee's controversial Rule 40, which states athletes can't promote any non-Olympic sponsors from July 18 to Aug. 15. Punishments for the rule range from fines to a stripping of medals.
The campaign was set to begin on Aug. 16 in order to comply with the IOC's campaign against ambush marketing. Someone jumped the gun and the photos appeared on a wide variety of websites starting on the second Tuesday of the Olympics.
Louis Vuitton denies releasing the photographs, as does Phelps' camp.
