Why Femi and Seun Kuti Were Missing At Felabration 2011

Those who attended this year’s edition of Felabration would tell you they definitely had a swell time cheering their favourite artistes as they delivered trailblazing performances.
The seven-day event saw the New Afrika Shrine, usual venue for the gig filled to the brim with Lagosians and visitors from other countries. But where were the Kutis and their saxophones?
Femi Kuti and step brother Seun Kuti were never seen at the New Afrika Shrine. Why?Well, both Afrobeat maestros weren’t in the country but on tour outside Nigeria.
‘Femi is not in the country, he’s still on tour with the Red Hot Chili Peppers . Right now he is Germany’, Femi’s sister and brain behind Felabration Yeni Kuti told Nigerian Entertainment Today in a telephone conversation.

‘Seun isn’t in the country too, he’s also touring in Europe’, she added. Seun Kuti had performed at the Jazz sur Son 31 in Toulouse, France on October 12 and at the Paradiso alongside Jungle Night in Amsterdam, Netherlands on October 15.
On Thursday, October 27, Femi will perform alongside another Nigerian act Asa at the Festival de Nuits de Champagne in Troye, France while Seun will be at Le Stereolux in Nantes, France on the same day.
