‘Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon’ premiered on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at London’s Empire Theatre.
Hundreds of loyal fans gathered at the Red Carpet ceremony to pay homage to the Pop icon. The only Jacksons that attended the event were his siblings Rebbie and Tito Jackson. Katherine Jackson, Michael’s mother who was meant to attend the London event cancelled her trip to attend the final days of the trial of Dr Conrad Murray in Los Angeles.
‘It moves you, it makes you laugh, it makes you smile, and it makes you cry’, Tito Jackson said.
‘It would have been very nice to hear what he had to say, but whether it would have been the truth or not, but just to hear him say something or give an apology, that he made a major mistake. I would feel better if he could even just commit to his misdoings and apologize to my family and Michael Jackson’s fans’, Tito Jackson commented on Murray’s case.
The documentary was released on DVD and Blu-ray in the U.K. on October 31.
‘It tells a real story. Nobody’s life is perfect, we all have our faults but you see so many wonderful sides of Michael and you see the real man behind the music, and he was a very strong man’, producer of the documentary David Gest says.
